The BongoHive Community Library #Giveabook

Did you know that BongoHive has a book library? The BongoHive library was started in November 2016. In September 2016, Barclays Bank Zambia donated books to the community of entrepreneurs at BongoHive as part of their shared growth initiative for 2016. Barclays Bank Zambia donated business development books worth K10,000. The handover took place during a ReadyToWork community event on “How to develop effective communication skills” that took place at BongoHive on 24th September 2016.
As part of our offline resources, we offer BongoHive community members a range of books they can borrow to read. We are now looking to expand our book library and we are accepting donation of books in the following categories: entrepreneurship, business, design, data science, social marketing, gaming, robotics, and programming.
If you have books to give to the BongoHive library, fill in this form or contact our Community Liaison at [email protected] – We can pick them up! #Giveabook
This #Giveabook campaign is part of the three things we care about at BongoHive : being open, helping each other, and sharing knowledge.
How can you borrow a book?
Rule 1. You must be a member of the BongoHive community. This can be done by: Being part of any of our startup programmes i.e. Discover, Launch and Thrive (current and alumni). Being part of the community i.e. MakerHut, GDG Lusaka, Asikana Network, being part of the Slack Community. If you’re part of the BongoHive community you can:
– Come to BongoHive, get access to the book shelves from the librarian, skim through the titles and pre-read a book you’re interested in.
– Pick a book you’re interested in borrowing for 30 days and present it to the librarian (Only ONE BOOK may be borrowed at a time by any single person.)
– After the librarian approves – Take the book and actually read it ???? !
Rule 2. You are responsible for the book you borrow; if lost you will have to replace it. Refrain from re-lending the book to someone else, that’s an unnecessary risk on your part. [In case you lose a book you will be required to replace the book. In case the book cannot be replaced; the current price of the book will be paid by the borrower]
Rule 3. Do not write, draw, or mark in/on the books in any way. Do not fold pages. Buy a bookmark. Do not rest an open book on its face, this damages the spine.
Rule 4. Books will be issued at a specific time as decided by the librarian and the book must be returned within 30 days. You can either return the book, or renew your borrowing period if there is no waiting list for the book. Return the book on time. Be a good person!
Repeat process until you become a better human person through reading.
