Business associations sign-up to support PEP-Z Business Plan Competition

ZACCI, ZAM, ZCSMBA and BongoHive sign MOU with PEP-Z

MOU reaffirms signatories’ objective of creating economic and social development

 LUSAKA, Zambia, Thursday, January 29, 2015 – Senior representatives from the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), the Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM), the Zambia Chamber for Small and Medium Business Associations (ZCSMBA), and BongoHive have put their weight behind a new business plan competition to promote entrepreneurship in Zambia.

The four organisations today, signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with the Private Enterprise Partnership-Zambia’s (PEP-Z) business plan competition component, Nyamuka Zambia.

Signatories included Mr. Bright Chunga – President of ZAM, Mrs. Patience Sakuringwa – Chief Executive Officer of ZCSMBA, Mrs. Prisca Chikwashi from ZACCI and Mr. Lukonga Lindunda – co-founder and Director of BongoHive, along with Mr. Bayo Akindeinde – Programme Manager at PEP-Z, Mr. Shalin Jethi – Manager of the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition and Ms. Namaya-Morero Mbikusita-Lewanika also with Nyamuka Zambia.

The Private Enterprise Programme and its Nyamuka Zambia Business Plan Competition is all about teamwork and partnerships, so the support of these key organisations is vital to helping get our message across to as many entrepreneurs as possible and enthusing them with a sense of what it means to be in business,” said Bayo Akindeinde.

The four organisations have pledged to support the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition with a range of practical initiatives, including provision of office space for workshops in Lusaka, Ndola and Kitwe, promoting the competition and encouraging their members to apply.

Nyamuka Zambia is soon to be launched and it intends to enhance productivity and competitiveness in the private sector in Zambia by strengthening the capacity of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to deliver inclusive growth. It also seeks to unleash talent, create entrepreneurial heroes, reward excellence as well as change attitudes towards entrepreneurship in Zambia.

The MOU reaffirms the co-operating partners’ objective of creating sustainable economic and social development as well as promoting economic cooperation through conducting educational training and promoting capacity building activities.

Through this partnership, the parties will share and disseminate relevant information about the Nyamuka Zambia business plan competition to their membership and networks. They will also collaborate on various events that are relevant and mutually beneficial to them.

Nyamuka Zambia Manager, Shalin Jethi, welcomed the opportunity to conclude these MOU’s and acknowledged their contribution to guaranteeing the success of Nyamuka Zambia.
