Greetings!

Welcome to the December 2021 issue of the BongoHive Consult brief! Get inspired by our monthly insights on how innovation is transforming businesses now and in the future.

The end of the year is a critical time for businesses to reflect on how the year has been, celebrate successes and acknowledge the failures, Most importantly, it is the perfect time to plan for the upcoming year. Here are some of the things to consider as you prepare for business in 2022.

As we wrap up the year, we would also like to look back on some of the projects we have worked on this year. Here are some highlights:

Loop Project: We worked with the Sonder Design Collective, the Zambia Governance Foundation (ZGF) and the Non-Governmental Gender Organisations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) on the Loop project, to provide a digital feedback platform in Zambia that will spotlight recipients of aid in rural and urban areas. Loop is a global platform for people to give feedback on humanitarian and development services in their communities.

COVEDAS: We worked with the University of Nottingham and The University of Zambia to produce an engaging online education programme called the COVID-19 Education for African Students (COVEDAS). The aim of the COVEDAS project was to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help to improve the emotional, economic and behavioural resilience of students to COVID-19 in African Universities.

CRIIZ Project: We worked on the Agrometeorological Innovation Project (Agromet Innovation) under the Climate Risk Insurance and Information in Zambia. (CRIIZ). This was a two-part project aimed at exploring the climate services needed by farmers in Eastern and Southern Provinces. We conducted user research and facilitated an innovation lab to validate the results of the user research and produce actionable insights that can further inform the future work of the CRIIZ programme.

Project Innov8: We worked with Stanbic Bank on Project Innov8, an internal innovation challenge within the bank aimed at improving their customers’ banking experience. We went on to provide idea development support and helped to build an innovative culture in the organisation.

But that’s not all we did this year. We also focused on developing and growing our team. We conducted internal training programmes to better equip our team. Additionally, four intern Software Developers joined us as full-time staff. In relation to this, our co-founder and Director, Silumesii Maboshe has shared a word on the growth and development of the BongoHive Consult team.

See you next year!
Word From Silumesii Maboshe, Co- Founder & Director- BongoHive Consult

This year our team vision was around improving clarity and challenging ourselves.
We have definitely grown in the quantity and quality of our communication especially about things we would have considered hard to talk about only a year before. We have faced and overcome individual, team and project challenges as well. With the ups and downs, we have a much better foundation to build on. I am inspired by the growth in the number of people on the team as well as the professional maturity.
