Hi there,

We had a successful Live Pitch for the FinTech4U programme (Cohort 2) where 8 startups pitched their FinTech business solutions. The top three startups who will be walking away with $5000 each for the purpose of developing their products will be announced this Friday at the virtual Grand Finale. The event will be streamed live on our Facebook page.

The pitching event for the businesses that made it to the top 20 for the SC Women in Tech programme was postponed from 24th and 25th February to 1st and 2nd March, and will run from 12 PM to 2 PM on both days. The top 10 businesses will be announced on 3rd March 2021.

Last week Tuesday, our Consulting arm, BongoHive Consult launched the COVID-19 Education for African Students (COVEDAS) project.  COVEDAS is a project aimed at helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help to improve the emotional, economic and behavioural resilience of students to COVID-19 in African Universities. BongoHive Consult worked with experts from the University of Nottingham and the University of Zambia to produce this engaging online education programme. You can access the programme here.

This Friday, we will be launching Episode 2, Season 2 of the BongoHive Podcast. In this episode, we explore the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on local businesses. We will be speaking to business owners Chishimba and Monde Nyambe from PR Girl Media and Brian Ross from Prospero Zambia. We also hear from Sophie Nanteza, an International Consultant for the UN International Trade Centre who shares key learnings about business continuity during these unprecedented times.

Have a great week, and stay safe.
