The world renowned Global Startup Awards, the largest independent startup-ecosystem competition, already covering 45 countries in 5 regions of Europe and Asia has arrived in Zambia.
The mission of Global Startup Awards is to find, connect, support, and celebrate key players in national and regional startup ecosystems worldwide and to fuse them together in a global entrepreneurial network, creating a matrix of opportunities for international partnerships, investment opportunities and commercial exchange. Southern Africa Startup Awards invites nominations from Zambian nationals to participate with all 14 SADC countries: South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Swaziland, Namibia, Tanzania, Angola, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, Lesotho and Zambia. Anyone from anywhere in the world can nominate their Startup Superheroes from any of these participating countries.
The Zambian Startup Awards take place this year on 9th August in Lusaka, while the Regional Grand Finale shall take place in Johannesburg on 31st October 2018 and eventually the Global Startup Award in December in China. The nationals are being organized by Jacaranda Hub Zambia, an organization that supports young people to have the right facilities, knowledge, mentor-ship and other key resources to play a key role in improving people’s lives, businesses and public services which result in socio-economic impact and commercial growth-driven by young people across Zambia.
Jacaranda Hub Zambia is being supported by Startup Junction – A Zambian Start-up Community that brings young professionals and entrepreneurs together to network and learn. The national finalists will be welcomed to a closed, invite-only tribute event to mingle with our partners and other winners, not only startups but also founders and representatives of Government,developmental agencies, members of the diplomatic community, investment companies, acceleration/incubation programs, ecosystem developers, corporate companies and co-working offices. The international jury board will also be represented.

Global Startup Awards is a continuously growing network of regions, running in Europe, Asia and Africa and new regions coming next year from other continents. The already existing regions include, Nordic countries in Europe: Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland Central and Eastern Europe: Poland, Chechia, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria, South-East Asia: Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, SAARC region: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and of course, as of 2018, SOUTHERN AFRICA!
