Job Purpose:

Responsible for the financial health of the company organisation by producing financial reports, ensuring compliance with the relevant regulatory bodies and guiding the directors in making sound financial decisions in the long and short term. Coordinating all finance, administration and procurement activities of the organisation.

In addition, the accounting and finance lead is also responsible for the facilitation of all financial training in all Bongohive programmes and training engagements.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial management of the business.
    • Development of finance manual and internal controls around the accounting and finance functions as and when required to ensure that the assets of the business are safeguarded from fraud or abuse.
    • Weekly and monthly monitoring and planning of cash positions and cash flow so as to ensure that the organisation has sufficient cash for the day to day operations of the organisation.
    • Preparation of budgets as and when required for all programmes and projects undertaken by the business and controlling expenditure in order to prevent overspending and budget deficits.
    • Review of the financial transactions posted in Xero to ensure that all accounting records are up to date and posted correctly.
    • Preparation of financial data for grant reports as and when required to ensure that the business satisfies grant requirements.
    • Overseeing the financial audit process annually to ensure that the business has audited financial statements.
    • Running of payroll monthly so as to ensure that all staff members remunerated as per employment contracts.
    • To advise senior management based on financials when required so as to ensure that their decisions have financial input.
  • Ensuring that the organisation is compliant with all regulatory requirements.
    • Monthly, Quarterly and Annual preparation and submission of all relevant returns and payments to ensure that the business is up to date with all regulatory bodies so as to avoid any fines or penalties.
    • To inform senior management on any new regulations that concern the business as and when required so as to let them understand what impact they could have on the operations of the business.
  •  Management of office administration functions.
    • Oversee the office administration, procurement, and logistics such as travel arrangements on a regular basis so as to ensure that all those functions run as smoothly as possible and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Coordination of accounts and office administration staff.
    • The delegation of tasks to the accounts and administration team as and when required to ensure that they perform their functions.
  • Stakeholder management
    • Develop and maintain good relations with the relevant people in regulatory bodies so as to ensure that there are good relations between the business and the regulatory bodies.
    • Develop and maintain good relations with key clients and suppliers so as to ensure that the business has relations with clients and suppliers in for collections purposes and to negotiate favorable prices and payment terms with vendors.
  • Facilitate finance-related training and mentorship.
    • Designing and facilitating finance-related training for the Bongohive programmes, projects, masterclasses and other engagements as and when required so as to ensure quality training is provided.
    • Mentor startups that go through Bongohive programmes weekly so as to ensure that they are able to manage their finance functions and are able to make financially sound business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/ Business.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ZICA).
  • Not less than 5 years of relevant experience in various accounting and finance positions with at least 2 of those years in a management/supervisory position.
  • Experience with working with SMEs.
  • Good communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working with accounting and ERP packages.
  • Very good Microsoft excel knowledge.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision.

Job purpose

The Campus Innovation Lead is responsible for building relationships and working with stakeholders on various campuses (Universities, Colleges etc) to support and execute student-led innovation as well as scaling BongoHive’s programs and ideas to new campuses.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Think boldly and collaborate within a complex, emergent system. Understand how innovation can involve many people and recognize the ways in which it can be influenced by multiple stakeholders and trends. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success building multi-stakeholder relationships and creating impact within complex systems.
  • Be a problem-solver and strategic thinker. The ideal candidate will need to work with students and stakeholders to develop strategies that take advantage of opportunities in a system to address barriers to student-led innovation in different environments.
  • Be an organized project lead. Be able to manage multiple project deadlines and budgets.
  • Have strong leadership skills. Foster new partnerships to build BongoHive’s student-focused programmes across Zambia.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, or combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2-5 years experience with project management or program coordination, including managing budgets and other operations tasks.
  • Strong research experience (including survey development, analysis, and evaluation)
  • Excellent communication skills, including interpersonal, written, and public speaking, as well as workshop facilitation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage both large and small-scale teams and projects with limited resources
  • Flexibility with multiple deadlines and ability to multitask

Job purpose

To manage and execute communication and marketing strategies for BongoHive on various media for the purpose of projecting and maintaining a positive image of the company, visibility and awareness of company products/services/events to generate public awareness and programme leads.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Communicate, market or advertise company products and services (entrepreneurship programs and masterclasses) weekly on various media to generate leads or provoke interest in public
  • Coordinate and collaborate with media team and/or other departments on weekly tasks, goals, and deliverables associated with communications and marketing.
  • Send out the newsletter for updates and news to community weekly (Mondays).
  • Handle daily walk-in clients and phone calls, respond to incoming company emails and social media messages in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Regularly plan and budget for and lead all marketing events such as demo nights, exhibitions, meetings, launches, and social events.
  • Collaboratively oversee the design and development and dissemination of all marketing material with media team. Conduct quality check on all printing works and promotional materials such as billboards, banners, t-shirts to ensure adherence to branding guidelines for every company project.
  • Handle all press releases, blogs, stories, press event invites for company/partner events and relations.
  • Handle building and maintaining strategic and productive relations with the media to ensure coverage of company news and events.
  • Assist in providing support offices with high-quality information resources including stories, photos, videos and web-based materials for marketing and fundraising purposes.

Qualifications and Experience

Job purpose

The Startup Coach exists to build & empower more entrepreneurs to launch viable businesses. He/she is responsible for the first stage of programming that an entrepreneur will go through at BongoHive. The aim is to build the next wave of Zambian entrepreneurs who have the ability to create scalable, impactful businesses. Within this role, he/she will also contribute to BongoHive Consult by running entrepreneurship, innovation or Human Centred Design projects for corporate clients.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates the delivery and promotion of programs to assist entrepreneurs in identifying and validating business opportunities.
    • Proactively defines the timelines & deliverables for all people involved to ensure a seamless & successful program delivery.
    • Collaborating with the marketing & community leads to convert strong applicants into participating entrepreneurs.
    • Manage the Community Lead to effectively support program logistics & communications for a smooth running, efficient program.
  • Develops and facilitates programs, acts as coach to all participating entrepreneurs to ensure ideas are well validated & that entrepreneurs gain the critical insight & support they require to succeed.
    • Use lean methodologies, research & validation tools & business model understanding to prove the viability of ideas.
    • Utilise relevant local, African & global examples to help participants better understand concepts.
