Tetiwe Nzimah – Pioneering Change in Women’s Month

This Women’s Month, we celebrate an exceptional entrepreneur and BongoHive Alumni, Tetiwe Nzimah, the founder and CEO of Kiddies Commute—a company redefining safe and efficient child transportation in Zambia.

Tetiwe’s entrepreneurial journey has been shaped by her participation in BongoHive’s Thrive and Discover programs, where she gained essential business skills that have fueled her success. Most recently, she was one of the top six finalists in the prestigious Standard Chartered Women in Tech Incubator (SC_WiT) Program, earning $10,000 in funding to accelerate her business.

The SC_WiT program has been a game-changer for women entrepreneurs in Zambia, equipping them with mentorship, resources, and capital to turn their ventures into thriving enterprises. With over 150 women impacted and $200,000 in equity-free seed capital distributed, this initiative—powered by Futuremakers, the Standard Chartered Bank Foundation, and executed by BongoHive—has helped female founders innovate, lead, and break barriers.

Speaking on Millennium Radio with BongoHive’s Marketing Lead, Tilyenji Mundungani, Tetiwe reflected on her experience:

“I appreciate BongoHive Programs; they taught me a lot about business. I have been part of BongoHive for some years and have gone through programs like Thrive.”

Tetiwe believes that while funding is valuable, the real game-changer is knowledge and building an ideal team:

“What people need to be open to is not just going in to get seed funding but to gather knowledge because the knowledge is very valuable. The money can only take you so far, but the knowledge is forever. Equally important is building the ideal team—surrounding yourself with the right people who share your vision and complement your strengths. A strong team turns knowledge into action and sustains long-term success.”

As a proud member of the Hive Community, she continues to engage with fellow entrepreneurs, exchanging insights and accessing new opportunities.

Despite the challenges of running a business, Kiddies Commute is breaking even and looking beyond Lusaka, with Zimbabwe expressing interest in expansion.

Tetiwe’s story embodies the spirit of resilience, innovation, and female leadership—a testament to the transformative power of programs like SC_WiT and BongoHive’s entrepreneurship initiatives.

With 2025 promising even more groundbreaking opportunities, one thing is clear: the future is female, and the journey is just beginning!
