Hive Alumni Spotlight: Taslim Saluadeen Takes Nigerian-Built Technology to the National Stage

From BongoHive’s MineTech Accelerator to powering Nigeria’s National Digital Postcode, alumnus Taslim Saluadeen is demonstrating how African innovators can build technology that addresses local needs and creates opportunities across borders.

BongoHive is proud to spotlight Taslim Saluadeen, co-founder of Milsat Technologies, whose work in geospatial technology and digital infrastructure is gaining national recognition in Nigeria and extending across Africa.

Saluadeen participated in BongoHive’s MineTech Accelerator, where he was recognised as one of the programme’s Top Five winners. His journey reflects the ambition of African entrepreneurs developing practical, technology-driven solutions to complex challenges.

In his LinkedIn post, Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr ‘Bosun Tijani, highlighted the journey of Milsat Technologies, founded by Saluadeen and Adedamola Baderinwa. The company progressed from delivering a pilot in 2023 to contributing to the development of Nigeria’s new National Digital Postcode, a significant milestone in the country’s digital transformation.

The digital postcode initiative demonstrates the potential of geospatial technology to improve how people, businesses and public institutions identify locations and access essential services. Reliable location data can support more efficient service delivery, strengthen business operations and unlock new economic opportunities.

Beyond the national postcode system, Milsat has supported the National Population Commission’s mapping of more than 65 million properties in preparation for Nigeria’s first digital census. The company has also deployed enumeration area demarcation technology in Sierra Leone, extending its work beyond Nigeria’s borders.

Minister Tijani highlighted Milsat as an example of the technical capabilities emerging from Nigeria, emphasising the importance of nurturing local companies that develop solutions for domestic needs and scale their expertise internationally.

For BongoHive, Saluadeen’s progress is a reminder of the potential within Africa’s innovation ecosystem. Entrepreneurs who understand local challenges can build solutions with applications far beyond their home markets, contributing to stronger digital infrastructure and more effective public services across the continent.

As Milsat Technologies continues to expand its work, Saluadeen’s journey offers an encouraging example of African innovation moving from entrepreneurial ambition to real-world application.

At BongoHive, we celebrate the innovators building solutions for Africa and beyond.
