Pekka Sivonen has been working at Aalto University as the Head of AppCampus from March 2012 to March 2014. AppCampus is a 3-year mobile accelerator—program operated by Aalto University in collaboration with Nokia and Microsoft.
During Pekka’s leadership the program was kicked-off and ramped-up into a global developer program, which in 2 first years of operation gathered over 4.000 submissions for mobile applications from over 100 countries. During that period, over 300 of these teams were funded, accelerated and taken into the market.
Pekka has 20 years of international experience in mobile software. Before joining Aalto he grew his own startup Digia Pic. from 1 man operation to 1.600 employees publicly listed company. ln developingDigia Pic Mr. Sivonen raised 38 million euros private equity to his companies from international investors, namely GE, Cisco, Sony, Intel, Investor, Telia-Sonera and Eqvitec. Mr Sivonen has been nominated the Entrepreneur of the Year in Finland three consecutive years, in 2004, 2005 and 2006 by Ernst & Young.
Currently Pekka develops New Startup Acceleration Concepts for Aalto University Center for Entrepreneurship. He is an international caliber speaker with great charisma.
