Standard Chartered Women in Tech Cohort Shines on Millennium Radio’s Women’s Lounge

Over the past three weeks, the six winners of the Standard Chartered Women in Tech (WiT) Programme took the airwaves by storm on Millennium Radio’s newly launched show, Women’s Lounge. The radio show, which airs every Tuesday in partnership with Standard Chartered Bank, is dedicated to celebrating the remarkable achievements of women across Zambia. This month’s episodes highlighted the inspiring stories of the WiT cohort, who shared insights into their entrepreneurial journeys, the impact of the program on their businesses, and their vision for the future.

The featured winners, each receiving $10,000 in seed funding, included the founders of Wila Wane Store, Berry Green Enterprise, Koloso-Application Technology, Kiddies Commute, Chiseko Agritech, and Promaid Cleaning Services. The radio interviews provided a platform for these entrepreneurs to discuss their experiences in the program and the transformative changes that the funding and training have brought to their businesses.

The winners had earlier gone through a 3-month incubation period aimed at strengthening their business operations, digital transformation, and financial management skills. For selected participants, a 6-month acceleration program also followed, offering further mentorship and growth opportunities.

The Standard Chartered Women in Tech Incubator, Africa’s leading program for female-led businesses, aligns with the bank’s commitment to fostering diversity in technology and entrepreneurship. Launched in partnership with BongoHive, the program is designed to empower Zambian women entrepreneurs by providing the necessary support to grow their digital businesses and develop leadership excellence.

The Women’s Lounge show not only highlighted the achievements of these women but also underscored the importance of creating more opportunities for women in the tech industry. As the winners embark on the next stages of the program, they continue to inspire and pave the way for more female entrepreneurs to succeed in Zambia’s growing tech ecosystem.
