BongoHive is a technology and innovation tech hub work space located in Lusaka, Zambia. The essence of our lab is based on Innovation | Creativity | Sustainability. The successful candidate shall be able to show appreciation and knowledge of these values.

This is an opportunity to gain experience with a young creative team and develop relationships within one of the Zambia’s most recognised and innovative tech hubs.
A Communications intern is required for two days per week in Olympia, days and times are negotiable.
This role will see the intern working under the direction of the Social media team (C1rca 1964) and the BongoHive administration.
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Research and write communication material, including newsletters, media releases and web copy.
• Assist in the daily media monitoring of relevant online news pieces, which include the ecording and filing of relevant
- You will need an editorial eye, know what the best content to post across blogs and social media platforms and creating a demand
- Expand your knowledge of digital practices: Setting up analytics software, managing an editorial calendar, web reporting, best practices for online media
- Cultivating relationships with editors, bloggers, online audiences
- Maintain BongoHive’s presence online on social media sites by engaging BongoHive followers and fans
- Build relationships with the online communications staff in other hubs
- Work with the C1rca 1964 to provide content and graphics for BongoHive newsletters, blog and website and other media channels as appropriate
- Research and develop ways to improve engagement
• Collect and schedule content for BONGOHIVE’s social media sites including Facebook and
Twitter.
• Write a weekly blog post to be published on the BONGOHIVE blog.
• Support the media and communication team with key events and campaigns.
• Updating existing and creating new media lists and key contacts into a database.
• Gathering information for journalists.
Selection Criteria
• Strong written and oral communication skills including experience writing for a variety of audiences
• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
• A solid understanding of the social media universe including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
• Initiative and the ability to consider solutions creatively
• Experience working with the media and/or good media awareness
• Commitment and passion for BONGOHIVE’s mission and values
• A working understanding of social media and a genuine interest in
