When stories of African innovation make their way onto global technology platforms, they are a reminder that transformative ideas can emerge from anywhere, including right here in Zambia.
Recently featured by TechCabal, Mwiche Mukoma is building at the intersection of technology, agriculture and artificial intelligence alongside her husband and co-founder, Joseph Simukoko. Their story of turning a shared vision into a technology-driven solution for farmers is another example of the growing ambition and ingenuity within Zambia’s innovation ecosystem.
For BongoHive, however, Mwiche’s story is particularly special.
She is not just an entrepreneur featured on a major African technology platform. She is a member of the BongoHive community and a Women in Tech Zambia alumna.
Her journey with BongoHive began several years ago through the entrepreneurship support ecosystem. Mwiche and her venture, Green Giraffe, participated in BongoHive’s Ideation programme in partnership with AICCRA, an experience that helped lay the foundation for the business and its growth journey. She later joined the Standard Chartered Women in Tech Zambia programme, where she emerged as one of the Top 5 winners in Cohort 3.
That journey reflects what we believe the BongoHive community is about: creating spaces where entrepreneurs can learn, connect, build and continue to grow long after a programme ends.
From programme participant to community member
Mwiche’s journey demonstrates that entrepreneurship support should not end when a cohort ends.
Through Women in Tech Zambia, entrepreneurs gain access to structured business support, mentorship, networks and opportunities designed to help them strengthen and scale their ventures. But the relationships and community created through these programmes often continue well beyond the formal programme period.
BongoHive’s Women in Tech Zambia alumni network has grown into a community of women entrepreneurs who continue to share opportunities, collaborate and celebrate one another’s progress.
Mwiche remains part of that wider BongoHive community.
Her evolution as an entrepreneur is also a reflection of how founders can move through different stages of the ecosystem, from early-stage support and incubation to building ventures with the ambition to address significant challenges and reach wider markets.
A new generation is now building
Today, that same ecosystem continues through Women in Tech Zambia Cohort 6, implemented by BongoHive in partnership with the Standard Chartered Foundation and Village Capital.
Following an intensive Boot Camp that brought together 20 women entrepreneurs from across Zambia, 10 founders were selected to advance to the Accelerator Phase. The Top 10 are now undergoing an intensive 12-week programme focused on investment readiness, growth strategy, financial management, technology adoption, impact measurement and fundraising. The programme will culminate in Demo Day in September 2026, with up to US$10,000 in equity-free funding available to support the growth of the participating ventures.
The current cohort is a reminder that every established entrepreneur was once at the beginning of a journey.
Mwiche’s story offers the current generation of Women in Tech founders something equally valuable: proof of what can happen when an entrepreneur stays committed to the journey.
From participating in BongoHive programmes to building businesses, contributing to the innovation ecosystem and now being recognised by one of Africa’s leading technology publications, her journey continues to evolve.

As Cohort 6 founders continue their own journeys, we are reminded that today’s programme participants can become tomorrow’s industry leaders, ecosystem builders and global success stories.
